Phase 1: Starting with SL-36 – Compact, Capable, and Cost-Effective

Leonardo initially inquired about our popular small-footprint machine, the SmartLathe SL-36, impressed by its balance of affordability and versatility. He provided detailed part drawings for evaluation. Our engineering team carefully studied the design and machining requirements and confirmed that SL-36 was capable of machining the part with high precision — though it would require two separate operations due to the machine’s base configuration.

After detailed discussions, Leonardo agreed with the proposed two-step process, and we proceeded with a sample demo to validate real-world performance. The result was successful, confirming that SL-36 could meet dimensional and surface quality requirements.

Phase 2: Raising the Bar – Upgrading to SL-X for One-Step Completion

Shortly after the demo, Leonardo expressed interest in further improving production efficiency by completing the part in a single operation.

We responded promptly by recommending our SL-X model, equipped with:

  • Y-axis capability for complex contouring and off-center drilling

  • 4+4 live tooling power head for multi-process flexibility

  • Servo turret for faster, precise tool indexing

This enhanced configuration enabled the complete machining of Leonardo’s part in one setup, eliminating the need for part repositioning or a second pass. We conducted another round of sample testing, which confirmed the concept. The cycle time was shortened, accuracy was improved, and overall workflow became much more efficient.

We collaborated closely to understand his workshop layout, voltage specifications, and output targets, then delivered a complete automation solution, including:

  • Automatic bar feeder for continuous raw material feeding

  • Parts catcher for finished component collection

  • Oil mist collector for a cleaner and safer working environment

  • Custom voltage transformer designed to match the local power grid in Guatemala

Phase 4: After-Sales Support – Always Close, Even From Afar

No solution is complete without reliable service. Once the machine arrived, Leonardo’s team had several questions during installation and operation. Our dedicated after-sales engineers provided timely remote assistance via video calls, messaging apps, and technical documents. Issues were resolved efficiently, allowing the production process to begin smoothly.

As Leonardo began machining more complex parts, he required a more efficient programming workflow. To support this, we provided a customized post processor for his CAM software, allowing his team to generate NC programs more quickly and accurately — further improving productivity.
